Google Datacenter Eemshaven

  • THE STORYMineralis has contributed to the construction of the Google Datacenter by supplying sand. The sand came from the Ems River in Germany, meaning that it was sourced as close as possible to the work. The result was a shorter sailing distance, thus reducing CO2 emissions.

The Port of Eemshaven is very suitable for a data centre because of the location of an important internet node where eleven of the fifteen internet cables linking Europe and the United States meet. In addition, the climate is favourable and there is a highly reliable constant power supply.
